Use Customer Search to find a customer to display for charge customer inquiry, or to select a customer for the transaction program you are in.
Click a link to advance to that section of the topic.
This screen, in its default form, prompts for your search criteria (by customer name), and then it will display all matching customers for all locations. If you know the first letter of the customer's name, type it in the field and press Enter to display a list of customers whose names (first or last) start with that letter. For example, type H and press Enter and the list in Customer Search would show both Baker Hardware and Hillcrest Electric. The list continues with customers whose names start with the subsequent letters of the alphabet such as I and J in this example.
If you want to search for customers by criteria other than just name, press F8-String Search. Enter your search string and choose the customer record element (such as address, city, phone, customer number, and so on) by which you want to search. If you choose to search by customer name after pressing F8, and you enter H (like the above example), the resulting list of customers will be all customers with the letter H anywhere in their name. For example, you would see not only Baker Hardware and Hillcrest Electric, but you would also see Sherwood Construction.
Press F7-Location Toggle to change the mode to search for customers in a single location or in the entire region in which the screen location is found.
After you obtain a list of customers, use the options at the top of the screen to select the customer for a transaction; display the customer for inquiry; review the rental contracts associated with the customer; and so on.
