Item Cross Reference Maintenance - Substitute ItemsUse this screen to add substitute itemSales item that can be substituted for another item when that item is out of stock.s to a sales item. A sales item's substitute items display in a popup window when you are checking the item's availability by location in Parts/Merchandise Search - Availability by Location. When the popup window appears, press F8 to toggle from the cross reference items to the substitute items.
When entering a sales item that has one or more substitute items associated with it on a sales order, purchase order, or work order, the system either automatically replaces the item with its substitute, or it prompts you with a list of substitutes from which to choose, based on your setting in control record PRCSUB.
Click a link to advance to that section of the topic.
Access this screen by pressing F8 from the Sales Item Cross Reference Maintenance screen. Enter one or more sales items that are substitutes for the sales item you are working with. If you do not know the item number, enter 1 in the Option field to search for it.
After entering a substitute item, enter 6 in the Option field to advance to the Item Location Selection screen to convert multiple locations to use the substitute item.
