Step Description Maintenance

Description:

Use this program to create and maintain all of the work steps (in multiple languages) used in the maintenance and repair of your equipment fleet.  This file holds all of the work steps in your organization with their numbers, codes, and descriptions regardless of the equipment on which they are performed.  Use the Equipment Maintenance Steps program to add the steps to a particular category/class or piece of equipment.

Navigation

Access this program from the Equipment Maintenance menu.  The program opens in ADD mode.  Add a new step by entering its description and search word on the top blank line on the screen.  Also indicate if it is a regular maintenance step and enter its associated labor codeUser-defined code that describes work performed. The code is entered on work orders to account for time spent repairing or maintaining equipment., and then press Enter to add the step to the list.  If you want to add more than one new step at a time, press F6 to advance directly to the bottom of the list where you will find a whole screen of blank lines for adding those steps.  Use F7 to toggle the sort of the list between step number and search word.

Fields

Position to Step Number

Enter the number of a step to which you want to position the top of the list.  This function works well when you have hundreds of steps on file, and you want to immediately review one or more steps far down in the list.

 

Language

Enter the code for the language in which you are entering the step descriptions and search words.

 

Step Number

Displays the number the system assigned to the step.  Each time a new step is entered, the system assigns it the next sequential number.

 

Step Description

Enter a brief description of the work step.

 

Maintenance

Indicate whether the step is considered regular maintenance.  Once the step is applied to a category/class or a piece of equipment, you can use the Equipment Due for Service Inquiry to determine whether equipment is due for that maintenance step.

 

Code

Enter the labor codeUser-defined code that describes work performed. The code is entered on work orders to account for time spent repairing or maintaining equipment. associated with the work step.  If you do not know the code, press F4 to search for it.

 

Search Word

Enter a descriptive word that you can use when searching for a work step.  You can sort this list of steps by search word by pressing F7.

 

Function Keys

Description

F1

Help.  Place your cursor in a field and press F1 to access online help for that field.  Place your cursor outside of any field, and press F1 to access online help at the program level.

F3

Exit.  Exit the page or program.

F4

Search.  Place your cursor in a searchable field and press F4 to access a lookup window or more advanced search screen.

F5

Refresh.  Refresh the screen and remove entered data.

F6

New Page.  Advance directly to a new blank page at the end of the list of steps in order to add more than one new step at a time.

F7

Display by Step Number/Search Word.  Toggle the sort of the maintenance steps by their step number or alphabetically by their search word.

F10

Inquiry.  Switch the program to INQUIRY mode.

F11

Change.  Switch the program to CHANGE mode.

F12

Cancel/Previous.  Exit the program or move back a screen.

F24 (Shift + F12)

More.  Display more available function keys for the program.
