Use this program to enter one or more alternate language translations for system key fields and miscellaneous codes for when they show up in Search windows. For example, certain miscellaneous codes are hard-coded in the system in English (ENU). Use this program to translate those codes into the languages used by your organization, so that when users press F4 in a program to see a list of available codes, they see the code descriptions in their own language.

Access this screen by entering a language code and a file code on the Alternate Language Description Maintenance - Launch screen. The fields that appear on this screen are dependent on the file code entered on the Launch screen. Typically you are translating the file's key field such as item or expense code, the main description in the file, and an alternate description or search word, if applicable.
In the case of translating descriptions in the System Control (ZX) file, you enter the company, location, and control record field first, and then you translate the description or descriptions for that field. When you want to translate the description of a miscellaneous code, enter a File Code of MR, and then enter the company, location, code type, and code for which you want to translate the description.
