Equipment Fiscal Depreciation Coefficient

Program/Screen: RAEFDM/RAEFDMC1

Description:

Use this program to set up the table of published French accounting coefficients used to calculate French tax depreciation called degressif.  Degressif depreciation is a declining balance method of depreciation using a variable coefficient that is based on the lifetime of an asset and on fiscal legislation rules.  This table is used to assign the appropriate coefficient when a new asset is entered in the system.

When using this method of depreciation. use control record RAEDP4 to turn on derogatoire (derogating or declining) journal entries.

ClosedMore information...

The fiscal depreciation rate is calculated as the fiscal coefficient x (1 / number of periods).

The first year's depreciation is calculated as acquisition cost x depreciation rate x number of months / 12.

Subsequent years' depreciation is calculated as the book value at the end of previous year x depreciation rate x number of months / 12.  However, if the depreciation calculation for subsequent years is less than the book value at the end of the previous year / number of remaining years, then the fiscal depreciation switches to straight line depreciation for the remaining lifetime.

Additionally, fiscal depreciation starts on the date in rental (beginning = the 1st day of the month).  Fiscal depreciation is always calculated in whole number of months.
